Residential Interior – S&S

Our clients, an overseas couple settled abroad, took us onboard with a simple brief: Create their summer residence in Karachi as a home away from home. Comfortable, private, functional and easy to maintain when uninhabited.

Their space, a semi-finished bare 1800sqft. penthouse apartment located in a high-rise tower in a high traffic area, remained aloof from the cacophony of noises by virtue of being on the 29th floor. With stunning views of Karachi’s skyline and the Arabian Sea, this home had the potential to become a sanctuary for souls weary from work and travel, and looking to unwind.

With a clear vision of the form and function of their summer escape, we began creating the moodboard around their need to entertain large groups of friends and family, following a modern aesthetic that remained classy and sophisticated by playing with patterns and textures against a mostly neutral palette. Smoky grey, frosty blue and sage green wintry tones were complimented with accents of marble and gold. Natural oak, a favorite spread throughout the apartment, contrasted with surprise pieces crafted in rich sheesham. Cinnamon beige hues broke the dominance of cooler colors, their warmth played up with buttery velvet suedes. The finished product is highly functional, pragmatic yet stylish and easy to maintain for a small family.
