Modern, Bohemian & Contemporary

When the client comes in with a clear idea and a moodboard, the brief is simple: Bring their vision to life.

The project requirements were to renovate a bedroom with a fresh look for a new couple that preferred clean lines, neutral palettes and a modern bohemian aesthetic. This involved stripping down the existing space, boarding up the unnecessary flanking windows and creating an interior from scratch. A minimal, single-layered ceiling with recessed lighting for soft, mock-daylight illumination, and a dark semi-glossy wooden flooring lent an illusion of liquid depth.

For the finishes, the occupants wanted neutrals with natural accents and textures, which was delivered by introducing fluted wooden paneling in dark and light shades, as well as using cream and beige linens for upholstery and window treatment. With natural oak as their personal favorite, it was paired with cream tones in their bespoke furniture pieces, including the upholstered bed, low side-tables and bedroom chair & footstool. A solid Sheesham end table served as a counterpoint to the lightness of oak also used for the floating dresser and mirrored wardrobe created to look like a single unit. As lovers of nature, the couple wished to include a green to break the monotony, deciding on Viridian for the suspended central tv console. Acknowledging their aversion to exposed handles and visible edges, mitered drawer openings on the slim desk created an look of seamless solidity.

For their bohemian bent, plants, colorful tapestry cushions and rattan accents were added for decor. A painting commissioned from a local artist and a gorgeous rug tied the color to the rest of the room with pops of vermillion. The completed look is a riot of textures and colors that celebrates the distinct personal style of the residents, set against warm, comfortable, yet highly functional contemporary furniture that elevates their lifestyle.
